I would love for someone to help me with some knowledge or tip me out or let me tag along on a hunt, and show me the ropes, i love to learn and am excited to absorb all the history there is to be found, what are the laws for this state of WV, how do you ask permission to hunt someones property, do they usually mind? I just dont really have any place i can go. I have one good spot but i need someone who has some knowledge to help out so i dont hurt anything...

Anything would be appreciated....by the way i have been a fan of this site for a long time now. HH

Anywhere near a water source is a great place to start ... Most people don't mind as long as your polite and don't leave a mess ... The more you look the more you learn just keep your head down and good luck ;)

Thanks what about rock shelters. I love the culture and the history. Ive found a few pieces been hunting a little over a year but no where near enough a id like to.

hello there,id ask eveyone you meet if they had seen them or herd of anyone finding some some place, then ask if you could look because were there is one there are many just have to let them erode out.find out were they would hunt thats were the best ones are.good luck

oh do you know anyone that lives bye the new river,it is a very old river

Hillbilly you can go to( nativewayonline.com )and he as a link that will tell you about how to start hunting.

Anywhere along the Kanawha river should be real good. Any water way will produce, WV had a lot of native American tribes Moneton, Conoy, Cherokee, Delaware, Honniasont, Susquehanna and Shawnee just to name a few. One thing to remember is that most old towns got started from a Indian trading post, they found all the good spots to live and the white man run them out. So if you can find an old town then more than likely there were Indians around the area.

Welcome to the site and good luck.

i was born along the kanawha river in kanawha city.

I live in Hurricane and ive been hiking and really scouting here in this whole teays valley( not the town) for places to hunt while i learn a little more

Never hesitate to knock on doors of farms be polite and most of all start where artifacts have been found before. A bend in a creek or river, sometimes artifacts are where you least expect them to be. Learn what flakes look like and it is game on from there. As other members said welcome to t-net and enjoy the site.

i know that area,i used to be a cook at the dog track there,st albans should be a good area find a creek that dumps in the river there.

I have bags of flakes and found a few scrapers and a shell that looks like its been drilled through but no intact points yet but hundreds of flakes
