Newbie North Alabama

My Name is Jason Murphree and I live in a little town Called Union Grove Alabama, about 30 miles or so south of Huntsville.
I work as a Software Engineer in Huntsville.
I really can't claim to be a treasure hunter yet. I am planing on buying a metal detector in the not too distant future. In the meantime I am doing some research into Union Grove. It is said that there was a union army encampment here during the Civil War. If anyone has any information on it please let me know. Haven't found a whole lot so far,

Union Grove Alabama

I would start here as it is the flattest area.......on the relatively flat top of Brindley Mountain, near the southwest end of the Appalachian Plateau

Check the roads into the flat and at the bottom of the mountain for camps. The roads there now are probably the original civil war roads. Drive the area and talk to locals. Act like a local and good luck.
