Below is 2 items I found in my garden (along with 2 arrowheads that have been identified). Wasn't sure if these are anything or just rocks. I am VERY new to this, so any pointers are greatly appreciated! I live on a farm (113 acres) less than a 1/8 mile from a river. Always finding stuff but not really knowing how or what to identify!

Just an educated guess.....
Could be a mortar and pestle used to prepare herbs for medicine. It would have been carried in an Indians medicine pouch. I'd ask at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History for their opinion.
Nice find.

The circle does not appear to be broken out. My guess is it is natural. I could be wrong and it may have been used for something but we may never know what. Everything they saw had a use or not. Fun way to see the world when your next meal is still alive.
Post your stuff here for identification you will enjoy the discussion and opinions and can learn a lot along the way. I did.

Newbi, don't throw that out. I have one identical. I'll post it soon. It is an arrow shaft abraded or straightener .

Anyone have any ideas? Or should I chuck it into my rock pile? :)

Here is one I found just like it. It is an arrow shaft tool

These are Shaft Straighteners. The pieces in this thread are natural stones.

i think reaper is right
grim-you have posted shaft abraders...not shaft straighteners or shaft wrenches
the shaft straighteners or wrenches are those made from rib bones with the holes in them
but i might be wrong........just my 2 cents

Either way, you see it is not natural. There are two different ones in one forum. Also, their were many types of shafts. Perhaps, the one like the two of us have are for larger shafts such as a spear. I don't know. It's pre-historic. Reaper, the ones you have are nice, but, rarely seen around my part of NC.

Yes the two different ones that have been posted in this thread look like artifacts at first... but when looking for the evidence of them being manufactured and used there is none.

i agree with reaper and gator about the first two posted
i think they are natural stones
i would not throw them away as they are odd and cool looking

I can't see how y'all say natural.?? The external shape of the two stones are the same. The rounded out area , the same size, and the two are the same in thickness. Every one is entitled to their opinion. However, if any of you find more of these natural stones, please send them to me..

I agree with everything you just said. That's what I see too. But both of them show no grinding or really any marks right where there would be if they were used for what you belive they were. Everything you just discibed proved they are rocks that look the same.
