i'm new to metal detecting and i'm looking for a decent detector (under $300.00) to start out with, i want to search old home sites and the like and i don't want to spend hours digging up pull tabs. are there any detectors in my range with a good discriminator and on screen display? i've been looking at a bounty hunter titanium, and a bounty hunter sharp shooter ultra mag. has anyone used these machines? i have seen some other models that have an on screen display that shows the (outline?) or shape of detected objects, any good? any and all advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

My first Detector was The Garrett Ace 250 for approx. $220.00. I was very Impressed with How Easy to Use and The Discrimination Capabilities. My girlfriend uses it now in the Dry Sand/Towel Line Area cause, I moved on to Beach Huntin, in the Galveston Surf and bought a Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II. Here are some pictures of my Ace 250. The White Thingy on the top is a LED Light for Night Huntin'. I Highly Recommend The Garrett Ace 250. If You Buy the Ace 250 E-mail me and let me know. I will then e-mail you with a procedure on how to set a Custom Setting to Help Discriminate some of the junk. I got the procedure from someone that knows the ins and outs of Detectors. I did the procedure to my Ace 250 and WOW what a difference.

Thats what I have also. The Ace 250. I found lots of stuff with it. Great detector for the price. Someone suggested a Tesoro Silver umax before I bought the ace. (around the same price as the ace250) I kind of wish I would of went that route because I got to comfortable with the id system and ending my first year without any gold....... I know I missed a few gold rings overlooking pull tabs and foil. :-\

Ya can't beat the little yellow fellow for your 1st rookie rod! I still have mine too

I started out with the BH sharp Shooter. It was too complicated for me as a beginner. It has too many bells and whistles. I recommend the Garrett ACE 250. It is one step up from my ACE 150. I have found relics, coins and jewelry as deep as 8 inches with my 150. Check my banner find, found with the ACE 150. You can find many good deals on TN marketplace for the ACE 250 used and sometimes new. I also recommend getting a sniper coil if you can afford it, it helps in very trashy areas. Go with the ACE 250, you won't be disappointed! Good luck!
