After you've looked up city and county rules for yourself (muni codes, park rules, etc... are usually on the city and county and state's websites), and assuming you see nothing that specifically says "no metal detecting", then ....... presto ....... there you go. Must not be prohibited. What I mean is: there does not need to be an express allowance of an activity. On the contrary: one assumes that you can do something (fly frisbees, skip stones on the pond, etc...), unless specifically prohibited.

Naturally, just because you may not see specific prohibitions, still does not mean that you can go nilly willy waltzing over people's beach blankets, being a nuisance, leaving holes, etc.... I mean, a little *discretion* is still in order. Avoid obvious sacred historic monuments, go at low traffic times (d/t we're in an odd hobby that has connotations, and draws the stares of busy-bodies, etc....).

I see you are in an area where you can get snow.......A real good tip is when you are out detecting and get thirsty....Never, ever eat yellow snow. Bring water.:laughing7:

Now that's a fine tip right there.

I would suggest just surf this site & you will find what you are looking for!

well i offered to help but needed to know where he was located since we are in the same area but no responce

Here's a tip that really has nothing to do with detectors but should not be ignored. Go to the very large parking lots for shopping malls that have a major highway next to it... with ditches. Go to the "downwind ditch". Look for paper money in the ditch. On those very cold, windy days, some people pull money out of the pocket and the wind takes it to the ditch... under the cars. Ends up in the ditch. Really! Try it. TTC
