Newbie, ky area

Hello to all, thanks for allowing to the forum!
My name is Brad.
I'm new to metal detecting but have enjoyed this hobby since I was a kid. Watching my father do so and others and reading all about it.
I'm from the outskirts of Louisville, ky and look to find a lot of areas to get started in.
I already have a lot of great land to be granted permission on to metal detect and search for spearheads and arrowheads or any artifacts. I have a deep ad great appreciation for all of the above. It is a great passion of mind and also getting my little daughter into it as well.
So I'm looking to buy a metal detector and I know everyone ask this, so what is some of
The favors or best buy for the price range: $100-$300? Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.
Also is the a site or place I can go to on the web to find history of my area and better areas to look fr my searchings?? I have some general knowledge but look forward to learning so much more. Love to find older historical maps that show events or times of my area in the past. Any help on that would be great as well.

Welcome to Tnet Brad, the two that are good in that price range are the fisher f2 and the garret ace 250, do some research on the two and hope to see some posts soon. Good luck.
