Howdy, I'm an eager newbie so please give some leeway if I don't know much about it;
I live in NC, a particularly gold rich county, I went rock hunting in an outcropping of white quartz and recovered a bucket of rocks, found these three examples, I think they're worth further investigation.
I'm no mineralogist, but I think there are samples worth trying to break up and grind into flour consistency and pan.
Pictures attached are three samples from a five pound batch I think are promising, the far right may be pyrite but I of course set it aside to be careful.
My plan is, assuming I have any gold in my many many pounds of available quartz, if I put it in a rock tumbler with steel bearings and powder it, can I pan it out and get it together? I think these samples bode well, if I'm not completely mistaken.
Do these samples actually have gold?

there are more with black powdery layers that appear to be small gold veins, but these just seem to be the most visually striking examples.
Thanks! :)
