G'day all,
Finally saved up for a new detector, but prices in Aus are 2 to 3 times more than in the US.
Anyway, by buying from the US, I can save money and get a better detector.
Would love some help from you guys as I'm an avid reader of this forum.
It's down to either Bounty hunter sharp shooter II, Quick draw II, Garrett Ace 150 or 250.
I've read all the reviews I can and I'm leaning to the Sharp shooter II or quick draw II
Any help is greatly appreciated as my radio shack detector is the pits!

Thanks fellas,
Mark (RAN)
Aus.

I'm not familiar with any of those Models, But I THINK the ACE 250 will Out-perform all the others you Mentioned.
This is just going by what I read here at TreasureNet

? WELCOME

& GOOD LUCK

I'm pretty sure your Radio Shack is make by Bounty Hunter. I have the ACE 250 and unless you plan to hunt on saltwater beaches it is a hunting machine for the money invested. JIM

Hi mark,
Ady from Adelaide S.A. here. Whatever you get, just be careful about the good old customs service. They tend to hit people up for import duties that can suddenly make the saving vanish in a blink!! My brother arrived back in Oz with various electronic bits and was hammered for a fortune in tax at the airport. Made the mistake of leaving his receipts in his wallet that they found when searching him!! Your right though. Increased competition makes them a lot cheaper in the USA than Oz. Good luck.

I agree, the ACE250 is by far the best choice among those you listed. Go with it, you won't be sorry!!

I disagree about the ace, I have a bh lonestar which is 1 model under the qd ll and the ace 250. I started md'ing in april with the bh and have found 65.00 I bought the ace about 3 weeks ago and don't find anything but all the junk you want. also the bh is alot lighter. my choice would be the bh qd ll. my bh I paid 120.00 for and the ace 199.00.

I have the BH Land Ranger and the ACE 250. I have found silver with both models. The BH is harder to learn to operate than the ACE 250. I would have faith in either one but the ACE is less expensive. In my opinion only, the ACE is a coin shooters dream while this particular model of the BH has a lot more bells and whistles and can be used for a variety of hunting situations. It would be comparable to the more expensive top end detectors. JIM

My first detector was a bounty hunter Quick Draw II & I DID find silver with it (but I had a good unhunted site). It is a good starter detector.
Their customer service was great.... I had accidentally broken the lower shaft (by stepping on it) & they sent me a new one at no cost.
Ater about 3 months I decided I wanted something a bit more sophisticated & bought a White's spectrum XLT.

I have a BH pioneer and the Ace 250. While the BH is a decent machine it doesn't compare with the ace. I found coins with the ace in my yard that the BH never sniffed out at all. I would go with the ace 250 anyday over a BH. But thats just my opinion

I have an ACE 250 and I love it........It took a few hours to learn the bells and the the pinpoint but after that its coin after coin.

I have read several posts bemoaning the lack of information in the ACE 250 manual. The manual I got with mine was very informative and gave me all the information I needed. Of course by the time I got the ACE 250 I had a little experience at THing, so perhaps that is why I found it adequate? Or, I am wondering if there might be two manuals circulating with one being less informative than the other? JIM

Thanks for all your replies fellas.
Now looking for a Ace 250 to buy either on Ebay or
maybe even here in the classified section.
Can't wait to get started.
Thanks again,
Mark

Based on a majority of feedback ......

Hands down go with the Garrett Treasure Ace 250 or in my opinion go with Prizm 3 at that price level.
Aren't the Radio Shack detectors actually Bounty Hunters anyway?
aloha
