Hey all, I recently decide to start detecting and bought a whites MX5 on Monday, unfortunately the weather has been crappy here in Virginia and I only got to go out for about 30 min. On the other hand im lucky enough to have parents that own an old plantation, circa 1686 and already made one cool find. It appears to be an old shingling axe id also appreciate any other information, Thanks. axe relic hunting.webp

Welcome Rcard86. Where in Virginia are you? I'm in Bedford County.

Welcome Rcard86. I'am new to Metal Detecting too. I live in Rockingham county Virginia. If you need someone to detect with, let me know. My fist day out I found Big Cent dated 1837 in my back yard. Good luck on your new hobby.

Welcome Rcard86 from Virginia.

That is a good find. Looks like lot's of soaking, perhaps electrolysis, and some rust remover might make this a nice display item - your own family history!

Nice axe head! I've found a couple up here on eastern shore MD. Where bouts in VA? I visit my mom regularly between Gainesville and Warrenton. I have two people waiting on me to find rings for them. One my mom referred me to and another while property permission door knocking.

I'm in Prince George about 30 miles south of Richmond
