Hi everyone, I've just purchased my first MD. I was going to go with the Fisher F4 but for the same price I picked up 2 fisher F2's. That way I can bring along a friend or my kids. Everything is frozen here and I can't wait to get out. I've was thinking about an old park close by and decided to check it out again. I know I can't dig but I just wanted to see if my f2 would pick anything up. When I get to the park I find its all torn up and there is construction equipment parked on the side. It look like they have striped the first layer of dirt off. I figure what the heck, I'll see what's out there. Right away I get tons of high beeps. Too bad the ground is rock hard.:BangHead:
I'm sure when things loosen up they will be destroying a good spot.danm.

Hi Cory; When it thaws out. Get out there in the early morning "before they start work there and you can also go on week ends. If you talk to the site Foreman he may say yes or no. But if you stay away from the equipment you may be good to go. Check the dirt pilesv as well. They are usually loaded as well ok. Good Luck. PEACE:RONB

Sounds like you have the right idea! Good luck and Happy Hunting.

Welcome aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Canada for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your country.

Welcome aboard Cory and congrats on the MD!

If you get a nice sunny, warmer type day you may be able to dig around a bit. Just bring something tough like a chisel and rubber mallet lol.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. I'm looking forward to finding some goodies.

I forgot, I wanted to update about this spot. I went back the next day to comb over some of the fresh dirt piles. I was getting a lot of good sounds and dug in where I could. I found one spot that had a really good sound and was still undisturbed by any equipment. I started digging and the ground was still quite frozen. After about about 10" and a half hour I dug up an old bottle, the kind that would have a glass type stopper. I was still getting a great sound so I kept digging. About an hour goes by and I finally hit something. It looked like a copper tin sheet on its side. I exposed about 12" and it just kept going, I couldn't find an edge. When I tapped on it with my trowel it sounded hollow. It was late so I covered it up and packed up to go home. I went back the next day to dig out the piece of tin and see if any treasures were hidden beneath. Unfortunately the construction equipment was back to work and destroyed the area I was working on. Oh well, I plan to go back this weekend while the equipment is idle.
