Newbie from Delware

Hi All,,,I'm new to the whole metal detector thing. I got my metal detector from my Father who just pasted in november,it was something he liked to do in his spare time, so i want to continue his hobbie I have no idea where to start but to ask about the unit he had. Its a Whites Classic sl,IDX,,,Im thinking about just going down to coin beach to play with it a little. I came up with that idea just by looking around this site. So please help a Newbie out! Thank you
