Well, I just came across this site a couple of days ago, and it peaked my interest again.I want to start "Detectin", and was wondering what a good detector would be to start with. I'm in Alberta, but I am from Nova Scotia originally, where all the real good metal detecting would be found out of these two provinces. I have a great uncle who lives in Louisbourg,Nova Scotia and before it became an historical site, he would go for walks on the Fortress of Louisbourg grounds, and you wouldn't believe the cannonballs and other things he has decorating his home from the area.He even has some real good treasure hunting areas that I can check out(Off Parks grounds of course !)  Anyway, I'm rambling..........Cheers !

radio shack 3300 is 60% off right now........get it at your local RS....for 111.oo, the best deal right now.

LOOKS LIKE THE RS 3300 SALE IS OVER!!!!!!!!!! Oh! Well!

Welcome Cammy! Enjoy the company here on TreasureNet and post often!

There are topics posted on here about people's views and experiences with different metal detectors. Take a look around and NEVER rush into buying any product without a looking around thoroughly into the reponses on each product and the features each detector has to offer. There are even some pre-owned detectors on this site that have been completely field tested with artifacts to show for it. There are really great deals to be had, you just have to look for them and not feel rushed to get something right now. It always pays to hold out for something of quality, and quality helps with getting the good stuff! More importantly, it is knowing your detector intimately that makes or breaks a day's hunt.

May your first find be of silver and gold!

Welcome to the forum Cammy.

Have you looked at the Tesoro line of detectors. They have a good beginning model called the Compadre.

Again, Welcome aboard and look forward to your finds.

Thanks ya'll.........Hopefully soon and lots of it. My wife isn't so happy about it though! Cheers!

A Garrett Ace 250 would be a good starter machine! HH and good luck, Mike
