Newbe to Prospecting

I am wanting to try my luck at prospecting for gold. I am interested in the Ouachita Mountains in Western Arkansas. Could anyone give me some hints on where to go. I am taking a 70 year old uncle that has cancer and he has always wanted to try gold prospecting.

You might try the forum for Arkansas in addition to this one. I do not live anywhere close to there so would be of no help unfortunately. If you check for a local treasure club or shop that carries metal detectors they can be of great help as well. Sorry to hear of your uncle's big battle. that is a tough one. I do hope he gets to try his hand at prospecting and you guys have great success as well! Good luck!
