Newb...which machine is best to learn on?

Welcome to the forum and hobby. Now why in the world would we want to talk you out of being happy to find a coin in the dirt?

Read all you can about all the different types of detectors at the manufactures web sites like Tesoro, Whites, Minelab and Garrett. There are a few others, but these are the major ones that have good customer service too if you ever need it. If you can, buy from a local dealer so they can answer all your questions too. If no dealer near by, contact Tony at tcmetaldetectors.com

Thanks for the reply..hey you're talking to a guy who gets a rush when he hears that high pitch tinkle of Silver hitting clad...checkout girl handed me a 1940 quarter with my change!!
I can only imagine the high of digging silver outta the black dirt..that's gotta be a rush...hehe

um i have to disagree on the read up part on the detectors,
I did that and it will only get you confused thiers to many out thier.
depending on what kind of money you want to spend
if your only looking to invest a couple hundred dollars id get an ace 250 made by garret
if you going to spend money on a good one like 700 to 1200 id looks at whites detectors but they only offer 2 year warrenties.
tesoro is good and they offer a life time warrenty
hope this helps. MAKE DANG SURE YOU GET ONE WITH PIN POINT. and do yourself a favor and get a pinpointer hand held unit too
PS dont buy an MPX it needs improvments.

Thanks for the learned reply..I guess I could spend the money but would like to keep it under 500 do you know anything about the Titan 3000xd?

That's a very good detector to start on and stay with for a few years. HH

Hey another newb question are the wireless head phones worth it? and do you need a waterproof coil just to be on the safe side? Anybody?...Anytime
