newb question for posting photos

johnny quest here, hello all!
I must have got lucky on my first post. I'm trying to post some pics of my new hunting grounds and it says file too big. I tried cropping them down but still too big. whats up with this "gimp" program. someone please knock some sense into me.
I'm sure future thankyous are in order so....THANKYOU ALL!

I crop mine to 580 pixels in width and it fits nicely. I thing 256K is the largest possible, and that's still huge when viewed.

I assume you're using Windows. Download this PowerToy from Microsoft, all you have to do is right-click on the picture and click resize. Then select a medium setting, and you'll be all set to post!

You can also set your camera for 640X480. That should help as well.
