SURPRISE-SURPRISE,
I can see why some people think I am a NUT case.
I am going to TRY to go the Legal Route and stop fighting City Hall (for a little while anyway).
BUT I am still going after getting the Kingdom of Spains permission on my Ghost Wreck because I have already started the paperwork.
As far as joining any group I am no longer interested. Hell I have been a loner for 70 years so a few more will not hurt ;D.

So far I now have 4 ship wrecks that need some serious looking into and I do not have the time to get involved into anything except the projects I have going on right now. There are just so many hours in a day.
I will continue to post on this forum but in a more positive manner.
I have made some very good and serious friends and contacts on this forum.
It is now time to close some pages and to open a few more in my Book of Life.
I am now a Member of the Granada Historical Group.
Thanks everyone and a Happy new Year.

Peg Leg, you dont need the states permission to look at any shipwrecks. You can dive on them, use a metal detector on them, just about anything you want - except remove ancient artifacts and dredge, without a permit. So you can dive on them, look at them, fan sand away to see things, etc. You should NOT get the country of Spain involved at all-if that could happen. The great possiblity is they are NOT Spanish, but good old US boats. You wont know until you look. You must look before you even try to get a permit. Otherwise you are really wasting your time and money. Spring is a good time to look as the rains are almost nonexistant and the water will be at its clearest. There are many, many old shipwrecks all over this state, that are just abandoned old work sailboats and motorboats, and some sunk and forgoten about. Steve.

OPPS! I forgot- Happy New Year!

Stevemc,
There are a number of things that I have not said on the forum and many that I should have NEVER said but I would like to tell you that I HAVE pinpointed at least 2 wrecks and 2 ballast rock piles not connected with the 2 wrecks that I have located. The 2 rocks piles are outside state waters so they are not a problem but the other 2 are inside the 3 mile limit. One I have I.D.ed as from the early 1800's. This one is very easy to get to but I will wait for another time. The Ghost Ship wreck is my Prime interest.
The Ghost wreck as I have said many times before I BELIEVE it is one of the following.
1. A Cortes ship.
2. A Spanish ship
3. My thinking on this one is so FAR OUT I will not even say.
1.A
According to what I have already been able to glean. This ship was a CARRAVEL since it is not over 60 feet long and close to 16 feet in depth with 12 feet in width. I have located one bronze swivel cannon and one large cannon and a large anchor. There is a large hole in the stern section near the rudder. The rudder is still there or most of it anyway. It is laying in the mud at about a 45 degree angle. In the bow that are still 2 oxyoak tie downs attached to the railings. The hatch cover is gone which was located just on the Stern side just a little ways from the main mast pole. There was only 1 hatch cover. Yes I know a lot about this ship except WHAT IS IT AND WHERE DID IT COME FROM. A short distance away there is the life boat (in the mud) that is the same size as what this ship would be carrying. It is about 12 feet long and about 4 feet wide.
Everything matches the size of the NINA which I understand was the size of a Carravel. Well you now what the 3rd ship might be. The NINA-told you it was a far out thought but EVERYTHING matches TO WHAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND. But NO one really knows-YET.I also know for a FACT that there was a Mayan artifact recovered from this ship over 30 years ago. According to my research only Cortez collected Mayan artifacts. When Spain got involved they melted everything that was gold into bars and shipped them to Cuba. My reasoning may be all wrong as far as whose ship this belonged to but I am not that far off. Untill I can I.D. this wreck 100% noone will ever know for sure and without a PERMIT I will NEVER KNOW FOR SURE.
As far as diving on this wreck is concerned that is not a problem because during low tide I can walk on the side of the ship. It is only 3 feet under water BUT the vis is "O" and I mean absoute "O". The tide is very very dangerous and can pull your face mask off outgoing and incoming. There are oyster beds all over the place but during low tide you can see some of them. It is the ones you cannot see that will get you into serious trouble. A diver can be driven or taken over these beds in a few secounds.
This does not count the gators, crocs or sharks that are in the area ALL the time except when the tide is going out the gators and crocs are not around but the sharks are still there. They are Black tipped sharks which are not aggressive-so I am told but a shark is still a shark and I have seen a few on the scanner that are about 8 feet long.
As you can see I know quite a bit about this ship except the main things WHO DID THIS SHIP BELONG TO AND HOW TO I.D. IT without recovering something?
Well "thats my story and I'm sticking to it".
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Peg Leg

Hey Peg,
as someone that has been out there, my answer to your question "Anyone have any ideas?" is give it up and forget the ghost ship site.

The only time I am sure I am doing the right thing for myself is when everyone else tells me I am nuts. When they all start agreeing with me and telling me how smart I am I know I am in for big trouble. You have to follow your own dreams, right or wrong, time will tell. When you followed your dreams before it paid off didn't it?
Good luck.

Okay, Peg, I've kept quiet for the most part on your project, but Scott's post reminded me of an old saying...

He who accomplishes great things must first look foolish to the crowd.

So here's my support for your project. I don't put much stock in treasure books, but here's the info that could give credence to your idea...

At the mouth of the Suwanee River, on the west coast of Florida, due north of Big Bradford Island, in about 24 feet of mud, silt and water, lies a schooner containing the sum of $5,000,000 in gold coin, the United States indemnity payment to the Spanish citizens of Florida. The ship was driven into the mouth of the river by a hurricane and foundered in twenty feet of water.

William F. Sneed, hotel owner, reportedly found a large sum in the same area. You can find out a little info on him by googling his name.

I can't vouch for the truth of this info, but I hope this will open some doors for you.

Happy New Year!
Darren

Darren of NC,
There is someone on the forum that has information concerning this wreck at the Suwanee River. I cannot give his name.
The Suwanee River contains many unusual items including PETRAFIED PALM TREES.
I have a few small pieces myself. But there are actually large chunks of this stuff ready to be removed and guess what the State has NO IDEA ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D.
