Well its not really a wreck, but it was on nov 18th/2005 when i first started working on her.The CARIBE is now in sebastian at finns marina!Me and Frank Burrows brought her up from ft lauderdale last week.it was quite the adventure.everything went great.tuesday night at peanut island in west palm we carreend the boat at this amazinly low tide we had,it was due to a total eclipse of the sun in turkey(that we didnt know about) so it affected the tides on the east coast.if in a area where the tide was normally 5 feet deep at low tide,it went down to 6 inches.this wasnt really a planned carreening but it woke us up at 11pm when the boat tilted over on its side.no damage, but got to clean the props, rudders and shafts.plus kicked around in the sand for some modern treasure,no luck just lots of beer bottles an caps.at 6:30am the tide came back in an the boat righted itself.we decided to leave that place before the tide changed not knowing if the ebb tide would come back.so we headed to ft pierce.a few stops along the way to replace the impellor in the raw water pump on the port engine.turned out it had this cheepo plastic pipe on it that was leaking to make it loose its prime then eating off all the rubber blades on the impellor.the last one i changed was at jupiter inlet.we made it to ft pierce right when it started to get dark, spent the night there then made it to sebastian at 1:pm the next day.we averaged about 10 knots all the way up,even got it on a plane right before one of the impellors fell apart.with twin DAF 185HP turbo diesels it only burned 25 gallons of fuel for the 125 mile trip.now that the boat is closer to home(orlando) i can go work on it whenever i want,it needs alot of work, mostly paint an some wood work on the inside.plus i need to build some carbon fiber blowers an a dive ladder.plus now its close to the beached HRD Deep Venture.who wants to come over this weekend an help dig some sand?i will be at the mel fisher contractors meeting tomorrow at 3pm,afterwards most likely at capt hirams or squidlips for some beer, rum.i will be staying on my boat for the rest of the weekend.im gonna pump all the 300 gallons of water out of the water tank an take her for a run up the ICW.check out the pic below, notice the funnel cloud comming down out of the sky.this was at finns marina 1 hour after we got there.it never did develope into anything an it went back where it came from.links to lots of pics of the CARIBE as i work on her.

Fisheye, was the CARIBE an abandoned vessle after a hurricane? I remember one of your posts ( a perfect recovery boat ), It would be great to get a fix it upper for removing from someones private property.

Diverj,
my uncle gave me the CARIBE it was becomming to much for him to handle at his old age of 90+ the engine room an other parts of the boat got flooded from rain the day before wilma came to ft lauderdale.i did have a post about HRD's R/V Deep Venture, its not abandoned it will be removed off its island home in a few weeks.the CARIBE will be a great treasure boat.bob(frogfoot) weller has a striker 37 just like mine.whats nice about the striker 37,60 of them were built in norway and today 60 are still floating.striker yachts are back in biz! they arent building the 37 anymore but the new yachts are of the same hull design as the 37.maybe if i find enough treasure i will buy one of the new ones, but it would have to be the striker 70 footer.or even one of the new pilot boats.like what thier ad says:OTHER SPORTFISHERMEN ARE BUILT LIKE BOATS, OURS ARE BUILT LIKE SHIPS
