I bought some high concentrate vinegar for a cleaning project and when I brought home an encrusted shield penny from the beach I wondered how in it work on it. It sure got rid of the crud. And the zinc.

Anywhere the vinegar could reach the zinc it ate it. Clear through the coin! The copper cladding was peeling off like foil. But it sure was clean and shiny.

That is heavy duty vinegar. I use it as a weed killer. The weeds die in 30 seconds right before your eyes. Also good for cleaning mold and mildew off the house. Don't let the vapors hit your face and eyes though.
