Relic Hunting
Hello all,

Located in Massachusetts, have had an inexpensive detector for several years, didn't use it much, so didn't find much. Cleaned a severely rusted iron plaque using electrolysis the other night, ran the name and patent date, and was amazed at how much information can reside in a piece of rusty junk. Now i'm hooked!

Hahaha we call that stuff "junque" not junk. Welcome to TreasureNet. You gotta get out there and start finding the good stuff. I'm sure there are plenty of members here that would be willing to go hunting with you. It's always more fun to hunt with a buddy. You're in a great state for finding the really old stuff. I look forward to seeing your posts. Happy Hunting!!!!

Peachy :hello:

Thanks for the welcome Felinepeachy. I like that "junque", is rust "ruste"?

Nah, I'm afraid rust is just rust LOL :laughing9:

So do you have any good places you want to hunt? Any buddies to go with ya?

Thanks for the welcome Jeep. Felinepeachy, i inherited a big old farmhouse and a few acres, have been poking around there, finding more by rummaging than detecting so far. Learned about Treasure Net from a neighbor who is currently detecting on the property.

Well let us know what he finds too :laughing7: And get out there and hunt with him.

How old is the place?

Thanks for the welcome River Rat. Nobody knows how old the place is Felinepeachy, Town says 1770's, but i haven't seen much of anything about the actual structure that looks older than 1830's. The guy who's been detecting has found a couple of large cents from the late 18th century, but i suppose they could have been dropped well into the 19th century. Seem to be plenty of trash pits scattered around the property, a couple of indian artifacts have turned up in the garden, and there's iron everywhere, so it's probably a good place for me to practice, maybe find Myles Standish's shoe buckles!

What a fantastic place you have there. Is there room for new friends? LOL I'll book a flight

Sure Felinepeachy, fly on over, you can start a third shift. I already have the guy who found the large cents, another guy who knows him and drops by from time to time, and some 12 year old kid who digs gopher holes all over the woods and forgets to fill them in. When the junque runs out, we can form a baseball team!

:hello2: Woo Hoo Welcome!!

Thank you for the enthusiastic welcome Mzjavert.
