Went and got my first box of nickels today.

Pulled 72 nickels from 1939-59

One silver, a 1944-P

And a lot of fun, plan on getting another box tomorrow. :happy3:

Welcome. Looks like your nickel box got a nice safe ride home lol. U did pretty good. 72 pre-'60 nickels is a lot from one box. I only found 30 pre-'60 nickels in my last box.

Good luck and HH!

It sure did lol! And thanks, love to go through nickels because you can get a lot of older dates! I also found a nickel where it has Jefferson on both sides, figured it was a gag coin!

I, among others I'm sure, are still wondering why people save pre-60 nickels.
Anyways, welcome to the hunt, goodluck.

Welcome and congratulations on an awesome first box, I'd keep the 2 headed nickel. It is a gag coin but pretty neat in my opinion. Good luck tomorrow!

The two sided nickel has a 1999 and a 1995 obverses together, its pretty cool. I also believe I found a proof 1968-S nickel but not sure. It it has a slight black look, but nothing like most proofs coins, but that might be because its older? But it has that finish that proof coins have.

Not all 1968-S nickels were proofs. That also goes for 1968-1974 for pennies. A proof will have a mirror (or mirror-like) finish on it :)

I know, but thanks:) I was just confused because the "proof" isn't all that strong. It does have the mirror finish. :)
