Hello All,
I own a White's prism II , And with it today I unearthed A few old camping steaks, one rusty bolt, and what appears to be part of a cog wheel.
not much to brag about I guess? But at least I have reassured myself that I am using the detector correctly! now to do some research of the area in which I live. Upstate NY "Lake George area". Any Locals out there?

Welcome to TN and treasure hunting.

Welcome to TN and detecting.

I can't help with the Locals, your stuck with em, :laughing7:

When your out running that Prism II, keep the coil low (as close to the ground without bumping it much) and focus on consistent sweeps back and forth. When you find a target, try different speeds of moving the coil over the target and see how that affects things.

Hello Adam...some days will be filled with junk and other days you'll have the Midas Touch. Get out as much as possible and try a couple of different types and locations of hunting to find what you really like. You might be a relic hunter, a beach hunter, prospector, or a coinshooter. Talk to everyone you know...at my last job it turns out that two other people in my department had metal detectors. I got my start from a co-worker at another job. Keep those clad coins in a jar and at the end of each year put the money toward silver coins or gold coins or a new metal detector...oh and get a pinpointer.

Hello and welcome to TNet.......................HH

Thanks for the tip Jan ThorCro, Not that I am ready for an upgrade in detectors just yet, But when the time comes...What Detector would you suggest?

Hi there Mzavrt , Metal detecting actually did come up at work not so long ago...So talking to people , is deffinately a great way to gain insight into the hobbie. I'm not sure what kind of hunter I am just yet, But I will say that thus far even with the "junk" I have found, It has deffinately sparked my intrest in my local areas History! And Yes a pinpointer is on my must have list. Thanks for the tip as far as cashing in on my finds to buy a new detector. Brillant!

Welcome to the "addiction" HH
