Found this item on an late 1800's home site. Only thing still left standing is the stacked field stone chimeny. It appears to be lead or some other heavy metal, fairly heavy for its size. It also has some shiny metal coating still left on the front and back. I thought at first maybe a decoration off a piece of furinture but upon closer examination of the back it appears that there is a channel where somehting used to run along the back. No writing or numbers that I can make out. Other than a very light cleaning with soap and water and a extra soft toothbrush no cleaning or polishing has been done. 003.JPG03062013 072.JPG03062013 064.JPG03062013 065.JPG03062013 066.JPG03062013 067.JPG03062013 068.JPG03062013 069.JPG03062013 070.JPG03062013 071.JPG03062013 073.JPG03062013 074.JPG03062013 075.JPG03062013 076.JPG

Very cool I definitely think you are right. I also found several small gears and a wind key in the same location. I had also found the body for an old wind up alarm clock so I figured the gears went to that. Thanks alot for your help.
