All Treasure Hunting
Hello everyone, my net handle is doc but my real name is ryan. I live in ontario canada and recently bought a metal detector as I have long wanted to treasure hunt!. I live In a rural town about an hour from ottawa. I have been checking public beaches and with permission a few destroyed houses. I have found tons of screws, popcans and random pieces of rusted metal and lastly a quater from 90's hahahaha. I feel frustrated but not giving up!

Welcome aboard Ryan! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Canada for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your country.

Hello Doc Ryan... With old places to hunt, you will turn up something...good luck!

Hi Ryan, sounds like your doing it right. Its a trash to keeper ratio. You could upgrade your equipment that could help you hunt better. But I can take my antique pioneer 202 by bounty hunter and still find pretty much what I am finding today. My trash to keeper ratio is very good. I still find the screws and trash but not much. Experience counts and as you learn you will revisit old sites to get the goodies. Also stripping away the layers of trash will eventually get you the goodies. At this point just dig everything, and experiment with the settings on your detector. I have a video cam on my detector to perfect my swing as a video doesn't lie. Its great for posting videos too, and having a record of those rings your finding. I have always wondered whet the poh poh would do if they found my collection of gold and silver. I have video proving where I got it. To sum it up, work on your coil karma and learn what settings and places are getting you what.
