Hit the beach this morning for about 90 minutes. It was all I could take even using a bungee. The stock shaft on it has to the worst shaft ever designed. I will definetely be changing it to a straight shaft tomorrow.

The detector itself is great. It's going to take getting used to the coil being hot off the heel and toe. I don't know how deep the field goes, but on or close to the surface it's about an inch and a half from the end of the coil. Is the WOT like this as well?

All coils for the Sovereign are like that...............Heavy,Heavy it's not a light detector the stright shaft will help out a lot.

The straight shaft helps, but you still have the weight on the arm. Have you tried the hipmount bag yet. It saves a lot of weight while hanging from your neck. I think the WOT is like this as well, though I could be wrong as I have yet to get one since I am not doing any more saltwater beaches. Treasure Hunter should know. Stick his name in the subject line so he is sure to notice it.

I was using a bungee, it isn't the weight. The shaft just isn't well thought out. Even with the bungee I couldn't swing it without lifting my shoulder a bit. I will increase the bends at the "s" on the existing shaft which will help. I'm also going to make a straight shaft for it tomorrow.

The reason for me not likeing stright rods is that i can not see the control's you don't need to most of the time. But when you do they are not right there.

I moved the control box mount to under the forearm. It should be fine with the harness now. It is going to take some getting used to slowing down my swing. It is definitely deeper than anything I've used outside of a PI on the beach.

I used an XS for years...recently it quit and I bought an XS-2 which has the 10" coil....man is my arm tired LOL! I have a straight shaft, but need some v-clips before I can get it all rigged up. Thinking I a going to try hipmounting it tomorrow and see how it goes. I tried it once years ago and the cable flapping around really bugged me.....
