Just started playing around with my DFX, pretty happy so far. The unit air tests at 12" on quarters and nickels with my custom beach program. So far looks like a nice machine, cant wait to try it at the beach hopefully it will get similar depth. Does anyone use these for wet sand hunting in Florida beaches? I'm going to do some comparisons against my CZ-20.

Same boat as you but no beach..while I wait for the ground to thaw I am reading the Digging Deeper with the DFX book that came with my package. I would recommend getting a copy to get the best out of the machine.
Good luck and enjoy!

I have a cusin that has a Dfx. he does real good on the beaches up here ocean city, md. I talk to John white at kellyco and he said the Dfx came out in 99 and went off the market 2013. It was replace by the 3vi.

I have both the DFX and V3i and love them both! The V3i has a fantastic screen and great analyzing functions.

DFX is nice so far, it is not difficult for me to use once one learns what all the different functions do. However something i cant seem to mitigate with it is EMI, very noisy ! I drop the PG to 3, DC-40, AC 70 ...noise city. Then PG 2, sens 65, noise city..! My Gamma 6000 and G2 quiet as a mouse at 94 sens which each unit independently turned on and off to test in the same place and time.... Looks like ill save the DFX for beach use only, which was my original plan anyway.

Had the same issue.. sent mine in to see if it was normal or something wrong.. waiting for a call this week, will try and let you know what if anything can be done.. could not run more than AC 68 pag 2 in the typical places I would want to use it..

Its definitely EMI because at other times i can run my DFX at PG of 4 and Sens at 75 air testing at 12" on a quarter with not too much noise. So i know for a fact the coil is good, its just very susceptible to EMI, i don't see EMI being a problem at the beach. For Inland, i use my G2 and the Gamma 6000, i think they are better detectors for that than the DFX. The DFX will serve the purpose of wet sand and dry sand hunting, it should work well there. Once the DFX is stable its a nice detector and can go deep. Let me know how it goes Doug.

The 6x10 eclipse is the best coil I've found for handling EMI unless you want to go to the small coils. Try 15khz only as that helps too.

I'm just starting out with a DFX too. Noticed depth and pinpointing are dead on. It's also like having a totally different detector for each program you use. I'll be checking back for tips from others. Happy Hunting
