new to forum!

Hello My son and I have visited this forum a couple times before, and decided to join! My son is 15, and a treasure hunter lol! We love going to estate sales and what not, buying "treasures" and reselling. My son actually does very good doing this! Long story short, We both suffer from health issues, his affect him more, so he is very sick, a lot! We keep him as active as we can when it is safe to do so, and for many years, he was an avid horseback rider! However the last year or so, he hasn't been able to ride much. To keep him going we purchased him a metal detector which he has wanted for years, but just a used basic beginners model, and a set of gold pans. So far just detecting around the house and nearby woods he has found some change (recent) and a gold cross containing several diamonds! But he wants to branch out, and to use the pans, wondering if anyone could recommend areas for me to take him, for both projects. We live in mercer county pa.......but will travel within an hour of here....thanks in advance!

Hi Barelracer02, first may I say welcome to the forum -it's the place to be. Sorry you have serious health issues and sorry more that your son does too. I think MD will contribute to maintaining health -its a good hobby for that. I'm from Northeast PA but I've been toMercer cty its nice and should have many good hunting sites-don't know about panning, try any streams especially near any mountains . Good luck-passing your way early may on way to Ohio where my son is getting married-I'll be taking my detector

As far as places to hunt, check out older houses or places with a history of people gathering. To get permission to hunt someone's house, just ask. Here is link that might be useful, Getting Permission FAQ - Saving History One Piece at a Time I'm new to detecting myself and haven't gone to someone's house and asked, just out of the blue, yet. I have called places of business to get permission for a place, with success. I can say that there are a few places that I am going to go and try to get permission for. Good Luck!

Thank you for the replies! We are hoping to get him out to explore some sites soon! I plan contacting a couple parks in the area for permission first, but he is excited to try his luck! Congrats on your sons wedding!!!!!!!!!
