Just joined , have been detecting since 1983 , unfortunately I now live in So Cal , places are getting hard to find to detecct without driving a couple hours . Am starting to think of places i played at and such when I was MUCH younger and it's starting to pay off . hard to find spots when you live in a city that is wall - to - wal cement . plus a new detector helped . They've come a LONG way since 1983 ! I regularly find sprinkler heads at 8 to 12 inches at parks I hung out at as a kid . but I'll never give up . some days are good , others are a waste . But , YOU NEVER KNOW till you get out there !
