1st I want to thank Wreckdiver, Aquanut, and Lonewolf who helped me learn the rules, in answer to my 1st post here. Thankyou very much.
As a result of that most welcome info, I was able to get to the beach today. I only had an hr so was mostly "dialing in" my 'ol Tesoro Stingray to the local conditions. I was most pleased with the short outing for a couple reasons. 1) I only saw one other person w/ a metal detector, and he was moving way too fast to be effective. 2) I actually had a few hits, a nail, a buckle and some aluminium. This tells me that the area isnt really picked over (or people arnt taking their trash with them when they find it). In anycase I cleaned the beach a little and had fun.
Im from Hawaii where we mostly search tourist sunbathing spots for jewlry and are rewarded with bottle caps, pull tabs and a few coins. So I am delighted to find myself in Sebastian Fl., Nirvana for all beach detectorists.
I'll report any thing of interst if I find it.
Best of luck to all of you

Welcome Maka!

I'm a newbee too and planning a trip to your home state (Hawaii) in the early Spring for my 25th Anniv. We haven't settled on a location yet, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I just hope my wife doesn't find out that I'm choosing our vacation spot based on TH-ing.

All the islands are good. The Big Island (Hawaii) dosent have many beaches because its geologicaly to new. Where ever you go, watch where on the beaches people are sunbathing during the day (in front of most hotels). Thats where you want to swing your detector in the early AM or evening. Remeber that suntan lotion and water make an excelent lubricant for removing rings, so waters edge, or even in the water if you can take your detector under water. Good luck !

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
