New to Forum .... would like to share my "1st Silver' experiance.
Hello all !!
A friend recently sent me a link to your GREAT site & I have been reading about some of your finds. I am now STOKED to get back out & using the MD again. ( My health & the Mississippi heat index of 100 PLUS every day put the brakes on for a while )
I would like to share my first SILVER Coin find of a year ago. I understand fully some of your disappointments of how long it takes to actually learn to use the equipment & to zero in on something "worthwhile" !!
I was coin-shooting a property here in south-central MS hoping just to find SOMETHING. I got a Dime signal fairly close to a large tree & figured ... GREAT ...tree roots to contend with !! I, sure enough, probed just 2 inches down to run into a large root. I dug around the signal on both sides till I had a 6" under & around where the signal was, but still nothing !! I rescanned the root & got the signal again which explained WHY I had nothing but dirt for my work. Then I noticed the root had some sort of elongated knot in it .... stuck my knife in there ... & out of the bottom of the root, falls a small clump of dirt with a dime STUCK to it. Figured, "Cool" ... then looked closer at the dime & started grinning ear to ear. It was a 1926 Merc !! My FIRST Silver. The one coin I will NEVER forget where, when & how I found it no matter how bad the memory gets through the years !!
Hope you all have your finds etched into the 'ole memory banks also !!
