This piece was found while detecting around an old barn and outhouse in GA. It measures around 8 1/2 inches in diameter and is about an 1/8 of an inch thick iron. One side appears flat, the other has some type of design or texture.

Any ideas?

It looks like the seed disc from the hopper on an old corn planter.

Looks like a clean out cap for a floor drain but 8" would be fairly big. I've seen the covers that nave those tapered fins on the bottom to center them and add strength.

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto JD. :hello:

Kind of reminds me of a potbellied stove part.
But, then again I call most large pieces of iron that I find 'old stove parts'. :laughing7:

You folks are awesome! It makes the most sense for it to be a part of a wood burning stove as an old house on the property that burned down years ago apparently had several stoves. Thanks!
