I am new to metal detecting and love the hobby, but I have a older Whites Classic 2 SL detector which is not giving me much luck. I bought it used and not sure if it is discriminating properly. I have alot of nails in my yard and it is hard to find anything worth keeping. I am shopping for a new detector but my funds will only let me go up to only $375 dollars to spend. I am trying to decide on a Minelab Xterra 305, Fisher F44 or a Garrett Ace 350, which one is the best machine? Please help me.... Thanks!

Welcome to Treasurenet! Of the three you mentioned, the Fisher F44 is the only one that has adjustable ground balance and is weatherproof for detecting in the rain.. IF you soil isn't too mineralized, the others will work fine also.

Give me a call if I can answer any questions for you on these or other detectors.

Welcome aboard TNet!!! I don't know much about the 305 or 350, but I've read a lot of good things about the F44. Good luck with whichever you decide on!!!

Again, I say go with the Tesoro Cibola. Best of luck to you!

Have you used a nickle and a piece of iron to set your disc? Make sure it is set to not hit on the nail, but still hits on the nickle.
