Hi,

I am new to this and just was wondering if someone could point me to a couple of posts where I could get a good overview.

What dates am I looking for in halves besides the 1964 and before?

I grabbed a $100.00 in halves the other day for the fun of it and got a 67 and a 69.

I am sure this has been covered before but I have a limited amount of time to sit at the computer and would just like to be pointed to a few good threads.

Thanks!

Read the top post in this section: Beginners guide to coin roll hunting. It tells all.

The Official Red Book is also a good source of what to look for. It tells you the different designs and their years for each coin and gives brief descriptions of common errors to look for. Available at any book store. You can even go to an outlet store and buy last years for half price or something.

1964 is 90% silver
1965-70 are 40% silver. Also keep an eye out for S mint proofs. Both the clad and silver versions bring a good price.
