Detector(s) used
Tesoro Silver UMax , Bounty Hunter Quick Draw 2
Just got my Tesoro Silver UMax tonight and took it out to a local park for a quick one hour hunt. I assembled the detector and put a new battery in and took off. This park has all kinds of pull tabs so I set the discrimination to tab and sensitivity to 9. The detector is very user friendly and I love the weight of it. The detector did a great job not picking up the pull tabs while hitting the coins. Pinpointing is awesome with this machine. The only downfall is I dug alot of screw caps. This is my first detector without a ID screen and I'm getting use to the noises to listen to with this machine. I forgot my headphones and didn't realize this detector is loud . I hit all clad with 2 Quarters , 4 dimes and 5 pennies for a total of .95 cents. This machine is the real deal and can't wait until my vacation starts on Monday !

Looks pretty good for an hour hunt. You'll get used to the screw caps. Remember , when you discriminate out pulltabs, you usually lose those rings too. I mean, who doesn't love a little gold or silver to brighten up a hunt. I know I do.

Willie D ,

I totally agree with you on the rings. I only had a hour to hunt so I didn't want to dig pull tabs the whole time so I set the discrimination up. When I have more time I will probably back it down to foil and take my time. Just had a new toy and wanted to see what she could do :)

Dex,

Do they still make Mello Yello ???? :icon_scratch:

Nice quick first hunt with the new machine  Good Luck with it, should be fun, especially with your vacation coming up.

Happy days are here again. The ease of operating most Tesoro's(If not all) is just great. I got mine, messed with it for a couple of days. Headed to Calif. for a long overdue hunt with my brother and, presto!! An 1899 IH right off the bat. Oh Yeahhhh.

Johnnycat,

I have to agree about the ease of the Tesoro. I will probably sell my other detector and buy another Tesoro. I didn't miss the ID screen at all. Congrats on the 1899 IH !

I hear ya and I understand completely. :D

I LOVE my uMax. How stable it runs and how light it is to swing are both refreshing change from my 1266-X (which runs hot all the time, weighs as much as an XLT, and requires a lot of careful listening).

Best Wishes to you in your future hunting adventures.

That is a great little machine. I would trade my ace 250 for one after seeing it in action head to head with mine. He had a huge coil on it thou...maby that helped.

Hoosier,
Great first run with the new Tesoro. I love mine. It never let's me down, and it's so light you can hunt all day.
You'll get to know the sounds as you get used to it. You are right though, it is a bit loud. It will draw kids in at a park like a madnet. ;D
I hunt farms and woods mainly, so I don't have to worry about the noise. Looking forward to your first gold & silver finds.
Congrats,
MM
