Found out that a field on the other side of city property is city property, someone always plants a sweet corn patch there so I thought it was private. Went there for a couple hours last night then again today for a couple of hours. Thought for sure I would pick up some silver because of it being cultivated all the time, but none yet. Found a rash of these small lead things that look like they have wires through them, numbers and U. PAC. RY on one and just numbers on the others, I think that stands for Union Pacific Rail Way, found a couple hot wheels, two were red lines one I think I had when I was a kid. A buckle, a minnie ball, something that looks like a button but I dont know, I hope maybe someone can help me on that and I guess my best find is the K. C. RYS Co. full fare token. Oh yea look at that piece of a coin purse, pretty fancy. I will give it a couple more hours tommorow, see if I can find me a siver coin, at least its been easier digging. Good Luck to All. JYD

The railroad bale seals are very cool. I would have been thrilled to find that quantity and variety.

I agree that the coin purse is very fancy. I have yet to find one full, but it has been known to happen. There is one lucky devil on here that found a coin purse somewhat similar to that one, and it held two Seated Liberty quarters when lost.

He must be stopped.
plehbah what exactly are bale seals, or what did they seal. I think the purse I found must of held alot more than two seated liberty's cause it blew the whole bottom out of it. ::) Take care and thanks for the info. JYD

Hey J.D. , I'm pretty sure that the purse piece is sterling silver . They were all the rage from about 1890-

1920. Look with excellent light and a loupe at the areas inside of the clasp for the hallmarks. All the best,

Argentium.

Nice finds. I agree that a good portion of the purse piece could be silver. Much in the style that Whiting & Davis (and others) made back then. Is there writing or marks that you can make out on that?

Looks like a Hot Spot to me. I really like all your finds, I bet there are some really old coins
at that location. You just have to get rid of the junk and not all junk is junk!

The button looks like it's off of a hand saw. If you have a old hand saw, go look at the handle,
there should be a button similar to yours on the handle. I used to find those darn things for years
and finally I saw a post about a guy finding one and someone gave the answer I gave you. I went
right out to my garage and looked at my hand saw and sure enough there was the whatjamycallit. LOL

Years ago, I found a purse, much like the one you found, only it was all there. It's from the '20's and they are collector purses now. Mine didn't have any coins in it!

Well good luck with this site, I bet we are going to see more goodies from this site that you have found.

oh, deffinately, there is more there, now get back out there and post more finds!!
