Cool finds are you sure that was broken and not just a contracting stem point with slightly barbed ears?

Definitely take it :-)
looks to me...in the photos anyway to be a contracting stem point with only a small chip on the stem.

I'm almost 100% sure Gator's observation is spot on. Impressive Gator, impressive!! Before I read this, I looked at the pics. I was almost to post just what Gator posted. I hunt one lake that is loaded with points that have the exact same base as yours. It's the snapped base Kirk I think. After work, I'll try to remember to post pics of my finds.

I finally got around to taking some pics. I have more of these but can't put a hand on them at the present.

Jasper is just chert that took its color from iron rich mineral deposits where it formed.
It's really just a generalized term and the material sometimes comes in several colors.. There's even a green jasper

I'm not gonna pretend like I know what I'm talking about, but i just always thought of jasper as being more the color of these below pieces, but everyone has their own opinion...I just think it's chert in mine, I've worked jasper from Maryland before and never seen any point out of the same colored jasper or anything I would definitely call jasper found around my area, so I'm just calling it chert, which I've seen tons of artifacts made of around me...although I'm sure jasper can have numerous colorations, it's just my opinion that this is chert, don't really matter either way, I just think it's cool lookin

Yeah I find it in yellow also but I was trying to match his color he was asking about. I believe the last one I posted it rite close to his.

I'm fine admitting when I don't know what I'm talking about and it's probably now hahaha

Where was this found again? It looks more like a red volcanic material like rayholite to me.

Geologist will tell you its all quartz. Chert, flint, and jasper. We as collectors try to break them down by colors as to the types.
