I have been trying for two years to find a certain land owner home. It takes me almost an hour & twenty minutes to drive to the site, so it costs lots of time and monies. A week ago I decided to call the person who told me about the site and ask him who might own it now. The first house was torn down 70 some years back, he said the house had three brick thick walls, the house was very damp he said, so they built a new home next to it. There were three brothers that settled on the same location, but a fair distance apart. The first came in 1806, the other two settled in the 1830s time period, there is nothing in the field except space to swing my coil. I was able to find out who owns it now and instead of driving two hours, the owner lives 30 minutes out side the town to get the big no, they said that it would be okay for me to detect, the one brother that owns the land is away, but he will hopefully say yes. There are alot of sites in this area that are just open fields. I will posts any finds once the snow goes away, it will be awhile. I am also detecting another site where the British camped in 1812, so far no real finds, just red brick. Brian C.
