I spent about 5 hours on a new site this morning with Goodmore and Dirtangler, thanks again Brett for the invitation. The weather was perfect for a 7:00 start this morning but the heat came up quick. The site was a home with several outbuildings that was built in 1850, from all indications this could have been a tavern at some point in it's life based on the fact that it sits at the intersection of two major roadways.

The iron on the site was a real challenge but the Etrac held it's own and worked a few keepers among the trash. I managed three Indians, a beauty dated 1867, an 1884 and a 1903. Also got two silvers, an 1897 Barber dime and a 1924 Mercury. Also shown in the picture is what I think is a small pocket watch back.

Thanks for looking!!

Cool finds isnt that 67 some $ . I think thats the front of a makeup compact not a watch . I've found a few intact with the pad still inside.

nice finds Dave ! that indian is nice

nice job Dave.. i remember the days of being able to get out first thing in the morning. now i get out in the heat of the day..

Awesome coins... How do u clean them u did a great job?

That barber is in great condition. Congrats!

nice finds..congrats

Nice Indian and barber!

It was fun. Some good targets. Good friends. And to top it off some really good land owners. That Indian is worth a few $. You are good with that E Trac. If you get that 3030 you will have to give the rest of us a head start.

Thanks again Brett, yes it was fun. I enjoy hunting with you and Terry and having the land owner show up and let us know we were welcome to come back was a nice bonus. I believe that site is worth a few more hunts for sure.

pghDFXer......the silver was cleaned using MAAS silver cleaner....I know, I know....some of you are cringing right now but they are common coins and I am putting them in a book to pass on to my granddaughter so I'm not concerned about the "cleaning" of the coins....I would rather have them look good in the collection book. The Indian was only cleaned with soap and water..............this is by far the nicest Indian I have found so far, most of our Indians in PA come out of the ground in rough shape. According to the 2010 Red Book there were over 9 million minted in 1867 so although it's not rare it's still worth a few bucks.

Brett......what were the years on the rest of your Indians? Congrats again on that fatty!

Thanks guys!!

Dave

The Fatty made the day for me. My first one. A monkey off my back. I am convinced it is the vegetation that either keeps them nice or destroys them. A block down the street they come out rough as sandpaper.

Hey Brett.........you got a couple Injuns in great shape too!! What year is that fatty.......I thought for sure I saw '65 on that thing on Saturday morning.......the pic looks like '63!

Congrats again!

Dave
