Hunted in an old park (has been detected by others before) in the morning until it got to hot.

At 3:30pm I went to a new High school. Knew T-Clouds would chase me away quickly, but I had to see what was there. See, there is this small field with a bunch of poles and a big tower.

First hole I found one black diamond emblem. Next hit, 2 inches away, found the other and the ROTC emblem. My very first military items. ;D Any ideas on rank/age?

Got to do the wood chips under one pole (maybe 10 square feet) and found 8-10 of these coins. Had to run away to avoid the storm at 4:15pm.

When I got home, I found that one of the pennies is a 1940 wheat. Don't know if it came from the park or the ROTC field. OOPS, should have checked :-\.

So, do I clear the ROTC Field, go back to the old park (been finding lots of clad there and it is full every July 4th), to the school I've found all the rings (http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,87393.msg622992.html#msg622992), or to a new location. I'll be heading out a 8 am.

Thanks for your vote. All are within 10 miles, so no distance problems. Days total clad (4 Q, 8 D, 1 N, 19 P).

Since I'm up and ready, I'm heading out the the ROTC field. If I get time before the heat sets in, I'll return to the old park. Vote is currently 3 to 2.

Thanks for voting, and I'll post my finds (even if only clad).

Depends on if you're married and a Dad or not.

It's Mother's day.

I'd go where you think you'll do the best.

The ROTC pin is what the Cadets wear on there uniforms indicating they are in ROTC. Must be a University around that has ROTC as a course.

Married, no kids yet. I'm free.

Re: New School (started 1972) and first military emblems

Early morning sun drove me in after 2 hours. Completed all the posts and plan to hit the tower and other equiptment tonight. Still, 3 out of 7 of the posts yeilded most of the coins.

Found this silver braclet at 3 inches. About twice as heavy as the gold one I found earlier in the year, so I figure it is 5-6 grams. ;D

Found two pieces of military what zits. Also 4 Q, 7 D, 7 N, 10 P. All modern.

Thanks. Are the black diamonds just to indicate ROTC as well, or do they have more meaning?

That would be the ROTC at the Univ. of Georgia. I'm going to call or drop by there building to see if they still train there and to ask if anyone lost some jewelry (I will not tell them what type).

Thanks for the comment. Until the jewelry started coming in again, I was a bit discouraged. Very happy now. 8) I always compare myself to everyone else, and I know I shouldn't :-\. Your posts are always so great.

How old is the Univ? Might also want to ask how long there's been an ROTC tie between the schools.

Nice finds. :)

The Diamonds are the designation of his or her rank. In this case the rank is Cadet Major. University of Georgia, then it would be Sr. ROTC, if you had a High School that has ROTC it would be JR. ROTC. Rank and other military items are issued by the school/ROTC. You can call and let them know you what you found and ask if they want them back and see what they say. Don't tell them jewelry because they would think rings or something, just tell them you found some cadet rank insignia. I am sure that they have a good supply and do not need them,I would not make special trip. Here is there website with contact info. http://www.ugarotc.com/

That helps alot. I actually didn't know there was a JR ROTC. I went to the high school website and found it has a program. I'll contact them since it is part of the high school fields. I just assumed it was UGA since that is the ROTC I see (I attend UGA). Thanks. I like learning new things. :)
