Our pipeline of new sites/permissions have slowed up because of COVID restrictions but this Land-Mag contact had been on the back burner for about a year. (THANKS Land-Mag) It was a fairly easy permission once he got to trust us, as he had an interest in History & Cropmarks.
Actually he once saw a cropmark that has never shown on any aerials & therefore it was unknown to the Archies. It was in the most unlikely spot of the field & if he hadn't said where it was, I would never searched it.
Therefore, the new name for this new site is 'Farmers Choice'.
On the less positive side, it's one of the smallest low yield sites we have ever done. Pretty much finished it in 1.5 hrs into the 5.5 hour hunt.
New permission is 1000 acres.
Tudor Button
3 x 17th C Buttons
Early 1800s Militia Button (unidentified)
12 Roman Bronze Coins - 6 scrappies & 6 OK
Roman Lead Steelyard Weight
Tudor Clothes Hasp
Ancient Bronze Awl
Iron Age (Celtic) Toggle - Type I need.
1606-07 James I Halfgroat
Henry III Cut Halfpenny
Very Debased Silver of Gordian III
Broken Silver Denarius of Sept Sev
Always exciting to find a new site & it was a lovely sunny day as well!
PS. It had a fair amount of green waste.
