I was researching some of my colonial sites and I came across a new map that showed sites from 1740-1810 around some areas that I have good relationships with all the farmers and landowners. I called one of the Mid-Atlantic Relic & Coin Hunters (Wild Bill) and told him that I found some new sites to investigate. So, we decided on a plan of recon and headed out to investigate. Sometimes it is hard to stay focused on "investigative hunting" when you know that there are quality relics right down the road that you could go to and hunt all day. We stuck to the plan and it started out very slow and there was a lot of farming activity going on on most of the new sites. We will have to go back and look around on one of them since we had to leave within 30 minutes so they could plant wheat.
The two silver coins were found in a thicket of green briers and we paid dearly for those nice relics. They were found thirty steps from each other within five minutes. Bill's is in better shape and was "holed" he ended up getting a date later of 1727 when he got home as it was getting dark in the woods. My coin is hammered pretty bad, but it is still spanish silver The picture with both coins were taken right after Bill pulled his. The three pictures of the spanish are under magnification to see it better. The picture with all the relics is from my last two hunts.
The Draped Bust was a nice surprise and ended up in very good shape! Bill pulled a nice script LA button (War of 1812 Light Artillery Button) from the same site has the 1801 Draped Bust LC. We managed a few flat buttons, some brass items, IH Pennies, Wheat Backs, 1943 SIlver Washington Quarter, & some odds and ends. I found most of my relics with me Etrac and the spanish coin with my T2SE. Thanks for viewing and enjoy the pictures. Happy Thanksgiving to all and enjoy the blessing of family and friends!!!
