It appears that KGW.com has removed the article. Just as well. It was on the news this morning, but the written article, which I gave html for, was not as detailed no as extensive as the original broadcast, according to another person who saw the morning news as well.

Interestingly, the person who found the meteorite in Morrow County now lives in Troutdale, Oregon: about 20 miles from me. I may try to look him up.

Well if you find anything else out let me know...sounds like a great story!

Thanks Brad!! That is not so very far from where we live....way cool!

Dick Pugh is quoted on KGW.com as saying the L6 chondrite is worth $20,000 to $40,000. Closer examination of the features suggest he is correct. This is not a pallasite which would contain large crystals of olivine. It does contain olivine, but relatively small quantities of that mineral. It fell several centuries ago, possibly as long as 1,000 years ago. It was found in a ditch on the side of a road in Morrow County, Oregon.

Too cool! Enjoying the links, thanks guys!

More data on the Morrow County, Oregon Meteorite from the Meteoritical Bulletin: an L6 chondrite weighing 18.2 kg., or just over 40 pounds. Relatively common meteorite type, which accounts for its estimated value of $20,000-$40,000.

hey....that would be just fine with me for a price....gimme a rock someone! lol

I'd probably hang on to a pristine Clovis artifact or my first large gold nugget . Think I could part with a space rock for that kind of $ ;D
