Back in the mid 90's I started metal detecting when I was about 14 years old with a Coinmaster Classic I and later a Classic III+. If it wasn't raining or snowing I was metal detecting! I grew up in a house from the early 1800's with many acres. I mastered those things and could pull the faintest of signals out of the ground. After a few years and a LOT of awesome finds, I lost interest with high school, college and then work. Just recently I got back into the hobby full force... I just have a lot less free time now! I had kept all my old coppers and silver that I found way back then, with me throughout the years. But I built this box that I would throw all my what-is-its and other non-cw-relics in, that seemed interesting to a 14yr old.
Well tonight I was visiting my parents and climbed through piles of boxes in the top of the barn to retrieve this box. I'm not even half way through it and half the stuff I cant believe I just threw in there. Some really awesome new old finds! Some of the old iron and brass locks would have looked awesome if I did electrolysis on them, now there is a layer of iron dust in the bottom of the box. Everything from pocket knives, spoons, broken jewelry (some really old), locks, button, cow tags, lots of buckles... what-is-its... and who knows what else. Having a lot of fun going through this. A lot of it I never even cleaned the dirt off!
