New Minelab Detector!!!!!

Hmm . . . . Now here's an interesting statement . . .

"Both machines will be fitted with a 9" Concentric search coil, with which the machine will run at 7.5Khz.
At a later date there will be the opportunity to purchase an alternative coil which will fit the X-Terra 50 and will alter the frequency to run at 18.75 Khz.

I have no MD engineering background but this is the first time I have seen anyone say one could change a MD coil and there by change the frequency of the unit!!

Anyone got any comment on this? Jeff?

I always thought the search coil functioned mainly like an antenna. The frequency is determined by the electronic circuitry. Oh well, there ya go. Just when ya think ya got it all figured out they go and do this ;D

Yea, I'm Not UP on The Electronics Thing Either, But IF Minelab Engineers Are Saying It, I have No reason To Think There Wrong.
? After All Minelab is the First to Invent BBS

There Is Something about Them AUSSIES, Always Going the Extra Step.
Look at FOSTERS ;D
? ? Jeff

The literature said the unit searched for coil information at turn on thereby allowing different coil frequencies in the future. I see more than one coil to be used over the frequency range stated. Maybe a different coil for every situation? Yes the frequency is from the electronics and the coil is like an antenna that is matched in electronics properties to the frequency used for best operation. The units appear an attempt to developer loyalty by provided a beginners unit and a second option. Time will tell but I think they fit in well.

Three months on the Quattro MP and not disappointed yet.
