My neighbor said he saw a commercial for a new metal detector that can show an image of what it has detected such as a coin.He doesn't know who makes it. I really don't believe him. I don't think this technology exists Has anyone? seen this commercial or know of a new metal detector that can show the user a picture of what its detected? It would probably cost thousands of dollars.

When you find out who makes it, let me know!

Stgauden,
I remember seeing something about that thing but don't remember where. I don't think it shows an actual picture, think its kinda like a black and white profile shot.

Do a search here on the boards, someone posted about this a few months ago and I think one of them may have had a link to a story/ad/etc.

I think they are seeing the Whites ad. They say the detector shows you what is in the ground before you Dig on the ad. They just don't tell the rest of the story, :-\

My GTI 2500 Garrett has what they call a target imaging feature. ?It doesn't show a picture or shape of the object or anything like that but does show the relative size of the object. ? I gives you some indication as to what you might be looikng at such as a smashed aluminum can vs a quarter coin. ?It helps eliminate diging some trash or other object non-specific to what you are looking for. ?It also will tell you with a voice the approximate size of the target and the depth as well as showing it on the LCD screen. ?The relative size of an object is shown on a chart indicating an "A" target as one smaller than a coin, 'B" is coin sized target., "C" larger than a coin, 'D" even larger still, etc.Garrett has bee advertising this feature pretty heavily the past few months and perhaps that is what he is seeing? ?JIM

I know detectors can show an image that represents the target but he says it can show a picture of the actual target that is detected

Heck, I don't need a picture, I just want it to be able to tell gold from aluminium. ;)
