I just bought me a new metal detector today :) The Whites beach hunter Id. $663.33 I wanted a waterproof machine I will be testing it at nearby beaches "cocoa" Saturday and sunday then with a little luck I will take a drive south to the gold coast next week end. And Maybe have something to show you.

Question: Does anyone know the law on using a metal detec around the 1715 wrecks specifically can i wade near the beach, or is this a no water rule?

thanks James

could not wait had to test it, in the front yard. sure is a lot of trash out there I thought it was cleaner, I did find 2 dimes and a nickel nothing older than 1996, a washer. broken spark plug. lots of other pings but i really didnt want to dig up my yard- so i will just wait to go to the beach

Funny thought on another day i could have dropped that same change and never gave it a second thought, must be something about "finding"

James, welcome to the Forum and I see you live just north of my location. The rules for the 1715 beaches are simple, stay out of the water with a metal detector adjacent to the wrecks, but the beaches are free to detect from the base of the dune to the waters edge. There is much more info available on this forum, including GPS locations of the 1715 wrecks that have been found so fare, just look under Legal Issues/Florida.

Good hunting
