Hello, my name is travis koller. I’m an artist living in San Francisco. I grew up in the gold country so CA history has always been a love. I’m new to metal detecting. Today was my 3rd outing and I pulled a couple decent find out of Golden Gate park. A 1893 Indian cent and some sort of Japanese coin. Anyway I’m excited for more adventures and for joining this community. Hope all are well.

A coupe pics of the coins from today.

Nice finds!!! Chinese coin...And welcome from MO!!!

Very intresting chinese find. Welcome from Texas

Thanks so much for the welcome and kind words.

I actually didn’t find the 2 coins together. I was pulling so many penny’s that I was inspecting them in the field very closely. I didn’t notice it until I got home nad was cleaning them. Rookie mistake. I think I traced the Chinese coin to this: http://www.anythinganywhere.com/commerce/coins/coinpics/chin-h22472-1.jpg

Says it’s ten Jiaqing Tongbao Dynasty. Really interesting because that far outdated the city of SF nd certainly the park. Must be a much more recent drop?

Nice work! 🙌 And welcome from North Central Illinois. 🙋

Welcome to the forum from middle Georgia! Great finds on any day, but even moreso for a newbie! I know it would have been for me instead of a steady diet of pulltabs. But good for you brother and keep it up! There in the SF area, you have a tremendous potential for finds and artifacts fro mall the history there. Just keep us up to date on your finds and check out the "Brands" sub-forum to learn tips, tricks and trends on your Garretts. Glad to have ya here!

It's certainly my hope to find some interesting history in SF. I'm also excited to head up to the Sierras to see what I can find. Ill absolutely keep my finds posted in here. Thanks for the advice on the brands board. The Garrett AT Pro has been a dream to work with and the pro pointer's accuracy really make it fun. Whats kind of rad about golden gate park is its completely built on sand dunes so many of the older spots the sand is only a few inches below the surface so thats been some easy digging. Happy digging!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the nice finds! :occasion14:

Welcome Travis from the great state of Tennessee. You should also post those in the "Todays Finds" section. Members would enjoy seeing your finds.
