Howdy everyone, name's Erik and I'm new to treasurenet. I need an expert opinion about a possible meteorite.
I've been researching meteorites but I'm no expert, here are it's properties..
1. It has a rounded aerodynamic shape
2. It has a white - light grey streak
3. A magnet sticks to it
4. It does not have a fusion crust, but it does appear to have a thin rind that's rusty brown colored
5. Has possible flow lines and regmaglyphs
6. Has tiny specks of metal on the flat polished side

Here are a few pics..
1st pic shows that the outside and inside are not the same color.
2nd pic shows tiny specks of metal on the polished side with a possible flow line
3rd pic shows an edited close up view, I used a photo editor to brighten the colors

Any thoughts as to what it could be would greatly be appreciated!

Not a meteorite, sorry. :occasion14:

Thanks for taking a look Terry Soloman. It's probably just some kind of magnetite bearing rock.

Many terrestrial rocks have enough iron for a common magnet to stick. Much of my crushed basalt driveway will stick to magnets.

If you want to learn more about meteorites, pick up a few guidebooks. When I am out exploring ghost towns and mining camps I always have a few with me, in addition to dozens of other references.

Finally time for more coffee.

Because of rotation .. And the outer shape I expect it is not meteor .. Is there a volcano or a watercourse in the opposite direction where I found this stone?
