Hi All,

New member in the SF Bay Area here. Ive been collecting things like coins and treasure since I was a kid, but to date Ive pulled more silver out of circulation than I have out of the ground... hoping to change that soon. Definitely finding less and less silver in my spare change these days.

I wintered over watching too many youtube videos and decided I wanted to do some metal detecting. I ended up buying a Tesoro Cibola -- it came well recommended by the guy at the shop. So over the last few days I've spent a few hours wandering a local park and I think I'm getting the hang of it. Nothing worth mentioning came up, but I am enjoying the hunt.

General word is that the area I live is pretty worked over and I do believe that. But locally I have access to a beach and a few parks so Im going to make the best of it. I watch these videos and its so cool to see all the Civil War relics and bits of history getting dug up in what must be every where else. Sounds unlikely I'll find anything like that out here, and that Ive got a better chance hunting nuggets (at least all those have not been found). My other hobbies like fly-fishing and off-roading do tend to get me outside the usual boundry lines, so definitely hoping for some finds this year on less trodden ground.

Interested in more knowledge, group hunts and meet-ups, too. Or if anyone has any advice on clubs local to me, hit me up.

Thanks

Thanks, guys. Lots of great info here. I had so many questions when I signed on, but lurking around a few days has answered quite a few. Keep the great posts coming. I hope to contribute more as time goes on.
