I found this site from researching my new hobby ...coin roll hunting! I've been reading up of cache hunting and mding as well. FASCINATING stuff, guys! I have so much learning to do it's unreal! I hope to make lots of new friends here!

Welcome from about 7 hrs. north of you. I don't coin-roll hunt. And my md'ing is for coins/relics, not "caches", but I bet a lot of us md'rs have passed over a cache saying to ourselves "durned hubcab signals!" haha

As i read more I find CRH to be the lowest rung of the ladder. I am interested in MDing, if only i could find an affordable Metal Detector. I figure there has got to be some goods to find along the newport coast...

Welcome from Orlando!

Check out some of the vintage / thrift stores in the older part of downtown Orange. You've got the Orange County swap meet in Costa Mesa & others. You should be able to find a good detector to get you started. Then when you're ready you can move up to a better detector as time & money permits. Make a run down to Newport or main beach Laguna to learn. You can concentrate on learning your machine without having to worry about digging in the parks.
