Hi to All,
I decided to join because I am starting my maiden voyage in detecting.
Started reading these threads and that only made the itch worse.
I did had a cheap unit 20 years ago but it did not hold up and broke.
Since then after years of raising a family and such I decided to give this another try.
I picked up a used Tesoro COMPADRE last week, a pin-pointer and shovel and I am getting ready to go.
Our first big venture will be in a few weeks when we take our annual 7 day vacation to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
There a plenty of old settlements, mining camps and mined out areas that need exploring before these areas are wiped out by civilization.
We used to live in the area and we know it well.
I tried out the Compadre last week for 15-20 Minutes in a school yard. Found and old bottle cap, a piece of band iron, a 3x3 chunk of 1/4" steel and a crushed can.
This week end I am heading out to the old family farm in lower Michigan that was settled by a Union Officer after the civil war. The property was deeded to the officer as some sort of payment. The deed was signed by Ulysses S Grant. Should be some goodies laying around the old farm, u think?
I think I have my Brother, Brother-in-law and Grandson's getting interested so this ought to be fun.
See u later!
